New Head of Equity Strategy

CNR appoints 20-year veteran Joseph Handelman to oversee equity strategy, guide investment decisions, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the performance of the equity portfolio.
NEW YORK —City National Rochdale today announced the appointment of Joseph Handelman as the firm’s new head of equity strategy.
With more than 20 years of experience in the finance industry, Handelman brings to the firm a history of investment strategy development and performance optimization. He joins CNR from Cohen & Steers, where he led performance optimization initiatives across equity and multi-asset strategies as managing analyst and head of Portfolio Solutions. Prior roles included serving as global head of portfolio construction and risk for the endowments and foundations group at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and as a quantitative researcher and strategist at Credit Suisse. Handelman holds a Master of Business Administration from NYU Stern School of Business with dual specializations in quantitative finance and financial markets and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tufts University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
At CNR, Handelman leads the firm’s equity strategy and equity investment management team, guiding investment decisions and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance the performance of the equity portfolio. Working closely with CNR’s portfolio managers, he helps to shape the firm’s client-centered equity investment offering. Handelman is based in the firm’s New York office.
